A partner program has two books. One says who sent the customer. The other says who got paid, from which balance, and what happens when that customer refunds.
Most affiliate tools are very good at the first book. They are a second product for the second book. Dub Partners runs its own payouts, tax forms, and invoices. Rewardful tracks Stripe beautifully and then pays affiliates in bulk through PayPal or Wise. FirstPromoter follows renewals, upgrades, and cancellations across Stripe, Paddle, Recurly, Chargebee, and Braintree, then pays through PayPal, Wise, or bank transfer. Referral Factory is built for branded customer referrals, including links, codes, QR, and forms, and pays with cash, gift cards, discounts, or credits. Tolt is the short path to a Stripe affiliate program, with payouts as a step you still operate.
Parten is the case where those two books are the same Stripe objects.
When invoice.paid arrives on the connected account, Parten reads parten_ref from the customer. The amount is what was paid, minus tax. A percent rule applies to that net. A flat rule is still stored against that invoice id, so a later refund knows which transfer to reverse. A zero-dollar trial does not create a commission. A lifetime rule creates one per invoice. A first-invoice rule stops after one. A repeating rule stops after the month count you set.
The hold is a date on that row. Nothing is payable until the hold has passed and the partner is over the program minimum. Finance can point at an invoice id and see the commission that came from it.
Partners onboard to Stripe Express. Stripe collects the identity and the bank account. Parten does not store a W-9.
A payout does two transfers:
Both calls are idempotent. If the debit succeeds and the partner transfer fails, the next Pay continues from the second leg instead of debiting the company again. Stripe prices the transfer. Parten does not add a percentage.
charge.refunded finds the invoice through the payment intent. Parten reverses that share of the partner transfer and sends the same amount back to the connected account. If the commission was still inside the hold, it is reduced or marked reversed and never paid.
That is the whole superiority claim. It is narrow on purpose.
Pick Dub when you want a partner network, branded short links, and a payout product that is not your Stripe account. Pick Referral Factory when the referral happens in a store, on a QR code, or through a form, and the reward is a gift card or a coupon. Pick Rewardful when you want to be live this afternoon and paying affiliates by PayPal or Wise is already how finance works. Pick Tolt when the program is small and a separate payout run is acceptable. Pick FirstPromoter when the subscription does not live only on Stripe.
Parten is for a company that already bills on Stripe and is tired of explaining to finance why the affiliate export does not match the invoice.
