Parten vs FirstPromoter

FirstPromoter follows the subscription across several billing providers. Parten only follows Stripe, and it pays from that Stripe balance.

FirstPromoter is the subscription-native affiliate tool. Renewals, upgrades, downgrades, cancellations, and reactivations update commissions. Stripe, Paddle, Recurly, Chargebee, and Braintree are first-class. Coupon codes, a white-label portal, fraud flags, and multi-level commissions are in the product. Payouts go through PayPal, Wise, or bank transfer, with tax documents generated alongside.

That billing breadth is the reason to pick them. If a slice of revenue is on Paddle or Chargebee, Parten will not see it. Parten connects one Stripe account and listens to that account's invoices.

Inside Stripe, the difference is where the money moves.

FirstPromoter records the commission from the billing event, then pays it on another rail. The audit trail they describe ties a payout back to the billing event, which is what you want from a report. The cash still leaves PayPal, Wise, or a bank file.

Parten stores the commission against the Stripe invoice id and pays it as a Connect transfer from the connected account that collected the charge. A refund reverses the transfer instead of opening a clawback ticket against a PayPal payment that already settled.

FirstPromoter is the better product when the partner portal has to be white-labeled, when you pay three levels, or when Stripe is not the only biller. Parten is the better product when every dollar you share with a partner already hit one Stripe account and you want it to leave from there.
